Kecia Gifford Lifton is a cum laude graduate of the Syracuse University School of Architecture, which is consistently ranked in the top ten among undergraduate architecture and design schools by the Design Futures Council. She studied under Dean Werner Seligmann and spent part of her schooling studying abroad in Florence, Italy.
Upon graduation, Kecia was employed by noted architects Benjamin Thompson Associates for several years. While at BTA, Kecia worked on large and small projects including the Navy Pier in Chicago, a mixed-use development in Westwood Village, California, and a private residence in Dover, MA. Kecia has been practicing architecture since 1989 and as a principal since 1992. She has worked as a realtor, which gives her a more comprehensive understanding of the issues that influence residential design. She is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) and is a Registered Architect in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She has served as a visiting critic at Boston Architectural College and has worked as a construction volunteer and Site Acquisition committee member for Habitat for Humanity.
As a member of the Sherborn Energy Committee, she presented the Stretch Code warrant at Town Meeting which led to the adoption of the code and attainment of “Green Community” status. She helped obtain grants for nearly $200,000 in town energy efficiency projects and served as committee co-chair for two years. As a member of the Sherborn School Building Committee, she participated in the vetting and administration of various elementary school construction projects. She is currently a member and chair of the Sherborn Capital Budget Committee and is a member of the Sherborn Business Association. Her work has been featured in Boston Globe “Your Home” Magazine, Design New England, Arts and Crafts Home magazine, and the Metrowest Daily News.
In her work, she focuses on the marriage of building and site and harmonizing the old and the new. Finespaces Architecture, LLC is a full-service architectural firm specializing in new homes and residential additions that beautifully meet the needs of clients by considering site, context, history, and function. For over 30 years, Finespaces Architecture has been shepherding projects from concept through design, to construction documents, bidding, and construction.
